PPP/C DELIVERS CAMPAIGN PROMISE TO CASH-CROP FAMERS OF REGION 5 While in Opposition, the People’s Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C) made a promise to the cash-crop farmers of Region 5, particularly, Fort Wellington and environs to return to them the lands, which they occupied and was earning a living from and was taken away by the Regional Executive Officer (REO), Ovid Morrison. Legal proceedings were filed by me on behalf of the farmers against Ovid Morrison and judgement was awarded in excess of $5M against Morrison.
President Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali, at the Bath Settlement Rally, promised the cash-crop farmers that the lands would be returned to them under the PPP/C Administration.
Today, the Attorney General and Minister of Legal Affairs, Mohabir Anil Nandlall, Regional Chairman, Vickchand Ramphal, Member of Parliament, Fizal Jafferally, and Harry Gill, met with the farmers and the farmers were informed that they can once again return to the lands. They were advised that the RDC will work-out the arrangements.
